Week 2 - Lecture 

Writing a brief
What is a design brief/specification? How do you read, write, and use them?
  •  
Introduction to the technical elements of screen design
How does screen design differ from other types of design?
Why might a designer design for a range of screens and instances?
What are the different screens you could be designing for and what are the characteristics of these screens? Screen ratios. How does someone interact with the screen, is it by mouse or touchscreen?

How does a platform or system affect a design?
File formats and Archiving. Why is it important?
Technical Terms (including bitmap, vector, pixel, "dpi", bit depth)
Print vs. Screen Design
